Exploring Nature Through the Summer in Bloom Workshop
Year 1 pupils from St Paul's Catholic Primary School in Billingham enjoyed a fantastic day at Hardwick Park as part of the Summer in Bloom workshop.
Throughout the visit, the children learned all about the life cycle of a seed and investigated a variety of seeds, plants and trees. They also became nature explorers, taking part in a plant hunt around the park and identifying different species growing in the natural environment.
Creating Wildflower Seed Bombs
The fun continued as the children followed a recipe to create their own wildflower seed bombs. Through this hands-on activity, they learned how planting wildflowers can encourage biodiversity and help support local wildlife.
The pupils also used natural materials to create beautiful plant-inspired artwork, showing great creativity and imagination throughout the workshop.
Discovering the Beauty of the Outdoors
After their learning activities, the children enjoyed some well-earned time in the play park before taking a walk around Hardwick Park to identify even more plants and appreciate nature at its very best.
The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to combine outdoor learning, science and creativity while developing a deeper understanding of the natural world.

We are incredibly proud of all the children, who represented St Paul's brilliantly throughout the day. They demonstrated our school virtues through their enthusiasm, curiosity, kindness and respect for others and the environment.
The trip was a great success and provided a memorable day of learning, exploration and fun in the great outdoors.
